Why we do what we do

Sometime back, I took my teenage son out to lunch to check out a “new to us” burger place.  Marietta Burger Bar, to be exact.  In case you were wondering, the food was excellent, and I would highly recommend paying them a visit, but that’s not the point of this story.

While dining, a past client happened to walk into the restaurant.  For those of you who don’t know me, I’m very shy, keep to myself and prefer to be left alone.  I often joke with my wife that I’d like to be a hermit and just go live in the woods by myself.  Despite this social awkwardness, when I saw the client walk in, I was not afraid to wave to him, invite him over to our table, and chat with him while he waited on his pickup order.

After his order was ready and we said our goodbyes and asked him to say hi to his wife for me,  I had a realization.  I wasn’t afraid to run into clients, past or current.  Not because I somehow overcame my painful shyness, but because of the comments he made to my son.  He told my son that he should be proud of the work that we do and that he and his wife were ecstatic with the results of our most recent transformation to their home.

I am proud of the work we do at Custom Dwellings.  I’m not afraid to run into clients for fear of what they might say, because I know we’ve done our best to treat them well and deliver a quality product.  And at the end of the day, despite my introverted tendencies, it’s nice to be out in the community and run into friends we’ve made along the way.
